Make-A-Wish group seeks frequent-flier-mile donations

Make-A-Wish Hawaii is asking those with extra frequent-flier miles to donate them to be used by a child with a life-threatening medical condition.

[art] More than 67 percent of all wishes granted by the group involves airfare. Make-A-Wish Hawaii estimates it will need more than 8 million frequent flier miles to fulfill every wish involving travel this year.

Most airlines now allow members to donate miles to charities. For a list of participating airlines visit www.wish.org or call 537-3118.

‘Deal’ host Mandel revives stand-up routine in isles

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. today for "Deal or No Deal" host Howie Mandel's December appearance at the Blaisdell Concert Hall.

Mandel arrives the day after Santa, on Dec. 26, for a holiday show.

Mandel is best known today as host of the NBC game show "Deal or No Deal," but he is a veteran of 30 years in stand-up comedy. He also starred in the dramatic series "St. Elsewhere."
