University of Hawaii Manoa Chancellor Virginia Hinshaw, right, introduced the new dean of the Hawai'inuiakea School of Hawaiian Knowledge yesterday. She is Maenette Kape'ahiokalani Padekin Ah Nee-Benham, a Hawaiian scholar and former professor of educational administration at Michigan State University. Ah Nee-Benham has a doctorate in educational administration from UH and degrees in theater arts from San Francisco State University. The UH school was created last year by merging the Hawaiian studies and language programs and is the largest school of indigenous studies in the nation.
