» Kurt Suzuki (Baldwin) hit a pinch-hit, walk-off home run over the left-field wall in Oakland's 6-4 victory against the Chicago White Sox on Friday. Suzuki is now 4-for-6 as a pinch hitter this season, and is the first Oakland player since 2002 to hit a pinch-hit walk-off home run, according to the Associated Press. It was Suzuki's second career game-winning homer.
» Shane Victorino (St. Anthony) returned to the Phillies on Friday after missing the previous two games with lower back stiffness. The speedy outfielder went 0-for-4 in a 1-0 win against San Diego. Victorino tweaked his back during batting practice before Tuesday's game against the Dodgers. He managed to play through the seventh inning before leaving the game. "It was my fault for going out there," said Victorino in an article by MLB.com. "I was trying to be a hero. It was a stupid thing on my part."
» Brandon League (Saint Louis) picked up his first save of the season in the Blue Jays' 4-3 win over the Tigers on Wednesday. League relieved Scott Downs in the ninth inning and struck out two to shut down Detroit. The righty has thrown 10 2/3 consecutive shutout innings, lowering his ERA to 2.29.
» Kila Kaaihue (Iolani) continues to rake it since being promoted to Triple-A Omaha, hitting .339 with seven home runs in 59 at-bats. Kaaihue, who beginning this season was not among the Royals' top 30 prospects according to Baseball America, could get a September call-up to the majors. "He's not one of these soft guys from the islands," said John Wathan, Royals assistant to player development, in a Kansas City Star article. "I saw him come charging home and just run over a catcher. I mean, just knock him out cold, shoulder first."
» Tyler Davis (Hawaii) pitched an inning of scoreless relief in the top of the 11th, earning his first Triple-A victory on Tuesday.
» Brandon Villafuerte (Big Island) was promoted to the closer role on Monday, and has since earned three consecutive saves for Triple-A Albuquerque.
» Kala Kaaihue (Iolani) is leading Double-A Mississippi with 54 RBIs. The first baseman is also leading his team in walks and strikeouts.
» Troy Hanzawa (Mid-Pacific) was one of four Williamsport Crosscutters selected to play in the Single-A New York-Penn League All-Star game. The shortstop and San Diego State alumnus is hitting .277 with 29 runs and 25 RBIs in 55 games with the Single-A team. The All-Star game will be held at the Joseph L. Bruno Stadium on Tuesday.
» Matt Inouye (Mid-Pacific, Hawaii) blasted two home runs, including a grand slam in a 11-3 victory over Single-A Hickory on Friday.
» The Washington Nationals organization traded Brian Finegan (Hawaii) to the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday. The third baseman reported to Single-A Clearwater of the Florida State League. Finegan hit .221 with 13 RBIs in 27 games with Single-A Potomac before being traded.
