Wie waits for cut line in Canada
Staff and wire reports
Michelle Wie won't know until later today for sure, but it appears her second-round 70 yesterday for a total of 1-over 145 will be good enough to play another round at the Canadian Open in Ottawa.
With nearly half the women still on the course, bad weather suspended the second round, forcing Wie to wait to see where the final cut will be. At this point, it's 3 over. She is currently tied for 34th. This will be the last LPGA Tour event of the season for Wie, who either has to win or finish second to get her tour card. She trails leader Lorena Ochoa by 11.
It's unclear whether she will go to qualifying school to try to earn her card or go back to Stanford and play on sponsor's exemptions once more in 2009.
Fellow local pro Dean Wilson shot a 1-over 71 yesterday at the Wyndham Championship. His 3-under 137 total landed him on the cut line after opening with a 66 on Thursday. Parker McLachlin skipped this event, the final one before the FedExCup playoffs begin next week.
