An Oahu grand jury returned an indictment yesterday charging a newspaper delivery supervisor with three counts of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old boy who works for him.
The indictment charges Frank C. Lefrandt Jr., 47, of Aiea, with first-degree sexual assault, attempted first-degree sexual assault and third-degree sexual assault.
Circuit Judge Derrick Chan confirmed Lefrandt's $100,000 bail.
Police arrested Lefrandt early morning Sunday in the Westridge center parking lot after the boy's father called police.
The boy told police he fell asleep in Lefrandt's van when they went to pick up newspapers at the Honolulu Advertiser's Kapolei printing plant and awoke as Lefrandt was assaulting him.
Lefrandt delivers newspapers as an independent contractor and is not an employee of the Advertiser, according to the company's human resources department.
