Follow up on the Olympics with a China tour
If all those images from the Olympics have piqued your interest in China, how about a tour?

The Culinary Arts Department at Kapiolani Community College is offering a "Tea, Terra Cotta and Crabs" culinary tour of Xian, Shanghai, Hangzhou and Hong Kong, Oct. 21 to Nov. 2.
Sound tasty? An information session will be held 9 to 11 a.m. Aug. 23 in Room Ohelo 206 at KCC.
The tour includes Shanghai crab and Sichuan hot-pot dinners, cooking class, tasting at the Hong Kong Tea Museum, and sightseeing at the Terra Cotta Warriors Museum in Xian, the traditional courtyards of Yu Garden, Jujiajiao water town, Aberdeen Fishing Village and more.

Sample unusual chocolates at Neiman’s through Saturday
Chocolates with the unusual flavors of wasabi, curry and bacon (inspired by the memory of a chocolate-chip pancake and bacon breakfast) are the hallmarks of the Vosges Haut-Chocolat line.
Katrina Markoff, executive chef and creator of the chocolates, will meet with customers and offer samples of her candies at Neiman Marcus tomorrow through Saturday.
From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day she'll be at Epicure, Level 3 of the Ala Moana Center store.
Tickets on sale for festival showcasing Big Island food
Tickets are on sale for October's 13th annual Mealani's Taste of the Hawaiian Range and Agricultural Festival. The showcase for Big Island-grown meat and produce will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 3 at the Hilton Waikoloa Village Resort.
More than 30 chefs will prepare samples of forage-fed beef, lamb, mutton, goat and pork, along with just-harvested fruits and vegetables.

Author of ‘The End of Food’ to speak at Oahu conference
Paul Roberts, author of "The End of Food," an analysis of the global food economy, will be the keynote speaker at 2008 Hawaii Agriculture Conference.
His lecture. "All You Can Eat: The Uncertain Future of the Modern Food System," takes place at 7 p.m. Sept. 4 at the Hawaii Convention Center.
