THE SOUND OF PEACECRAIG T. KOJIMA / CKOJIMA@STARBULLETIN.COM
The Hiroshima Commemoration and Peace Committee hosted a ceremony yesterday marking the 63rd anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima. The Rev. Daiya Amano rang the Peace Bell during the ceremony at Izumo Taishakyo Mission on Kukui Street in downtown Honolulu. At right are 1,000 cranes donated by the "Origami for Peace" Project, which is based on the true story of Sadako Sasaki, a young girl who started making 1,000 cranes, or "tsurus," while dying from the effects of radiation from the bombing.
