McLachlin said he has hired John "Cubby" Burke, a veteran who looped for extended periods for Brad Faxon and Davis Love III. Faxon and Love have 27 tour wins between them, including Love's 1997 PGA Championship.
Dean Wilson, who, like McLachlin is from Hawaii, is entered in the season's final major, which starts tomorrow at Oakland Hills Country Club in Bloomfield Township, Mich.
"I got some rest and I'm ready to tackle the beast of Oakland Hills," McLachlin said in a phone interview after practicing yesterday. "I'm not going to let that (putter) cool off."
