DUCKING OUT AFTER A DIPFL MORRIS / FMORRIS@STARBULLETIN.COM
A Duck Tours amphibious vehicle, or DUKW, left the water at the Sand Island small boat ramp yesterday after a tour of Keehi Lagoon. After a short break to dry out its brakes, the "duck" piloted by Capt. Bruce Wiggins headed down the road to finish its tour. About 2,200 DUKWs were built for the Army between 1942 and 1945 for service in World War II.
