A Sense of Place

By Richard Walker
rwalker@starbulletin.com

This collection of photographs comes from the exhibit "A Sense of Place," on view at Koa Gallery on the Kapiolani Community College campus.

Curator and gallery director David Behlke has seen a growth of artists in the medium, and as a result, he said, "I thought it would be refreshing to do a photo show, so I brought together a diverse group of photographers."

The photographs show unique juxtapositions, whether they be through light and dark or of objects in unfamiliar surroundings.

The artists have their own style but are bound by their medium.

"There's a cohesiveness with technique, but there are individual ways of viewing the world," says Behlke. "We all see the world through colored lenses, and the photographers show us their view."

The exhibit runs through Aug. 16.
