The 65-year-old man stabbed to death at his Ewa Beach home Tuesday was killed by his brother-in-law, a family member said.

Adolfo Alonso Jr. was stabbed multiple times Tuesday night. His 59-year-old brother-in-law, Jose Tubera Jr., was arrested shortly after the crime on suspicion of second-degree murder and first-degree terroristic threatening.

Alonso's relative at the 91-693 Pohakupuna Road home, who asked not to be named, said Tubera killed Alonso. But the relative declined further comment, saying that the family needs privacy and is still in shock.

Shortly before 6:11 p.m. Tuesday, Tubera and Alonso argued at the home, police said, adding that Tubera allegedly stabbed Alonso multiple times with a knife. Afterward, according to police, he used the knife to allegedly threaten a 29-year-old man.

Alonso was taken to Hawaii Medical Center-West where he was pronounced dead. Police arrived and found Tubera down the road.

Alonso is survived by his wife Emma and son Richard.

Alonso's death is the 13th murder on Oahu so far this year, and the eighth related to domestic violence.
