Finance Factors aids River of Life Mission
Finance Factors' 13th annual Benefit Breakfast raised $7,300 for the
River of Life Mission, which helps the needy and homeless.
More than 70 company executives and employees helped prepare more than 1,200 breakfast plates sold in front of the Finance Factors Center on Bishop Street. Donors included Akyth, Inc., Kukui Sausage Co., Rocky Road Products, Meadow Gold Dairies, executive sous chefs Michael Arita and Erwin Manzano of the Pacific Beach Hotel, and others.
D.R. Horton - Schuler Division donated $25,000 to five Leeward schools -- Mauka Lani, Maili, Barbers Point, Ewa and Makakilo Elementary schools.
Each received $5,000 for participating in the Read-to-Win program, which included 1,500 students in grades 3 to 5.
Friends of Hawaii Charities awarded $10,000 to Catholic Charities Hawaii's Mary Jane Program, which offers pregnant women a variety of services to assist with an unplanned pregnancy.
The grant will be used for upgrades to the Mary Jane residential home, and services such as counseling, case management, and educational opportunities.
