Fatal Hit-and-Run: Clues close in on truck
Police have narrowed the search for the vehicle in the hit-and-run death of David Wayne Aldridge II.
Police investigators recovered evidence and debris at the scene in front of the Dole Plantation, narrowing the suspect vehicle from being a "red, flat-top truck" to either:
» A red 2006 Chevrolet Express Cutaway.
» A red 2006 GMC Savana Cutaway.
"It's pretty much the same truck," said police Sgt. Kim Buffett of Honolulu CrimeStoppers. "Those are the only two models that have that yellow lamp (on top of the cab)."
Aldridge, 18, was hit about 1:30 a.m. on July 22 on Kamehameha Highway fronting Dole Plantation as he rode his bike home to Helemano Military Reservation from his job on Schofield Barracks. The truck was headed toward the North Shore and fled the scene after hitting Aldridge, police said.
Police said the vehicle has a red cab, chrome outside mirrors, a black flatbed and yellow lights above the cab. There is damage to the right front of the vehicle, lamp assembly and right outside mirror.
