Trias will host film lovers at ‘Teen’ screening
Jasmine Trias fans can spend an evening with the former "American Idol" star when she hosts a private screening of
"American Teen," a documentary film that generated buzz at the Sundance and Hawaii International film festivals.
The film follows five teenagers through their angst-ridden senior year in high school.
Trias will sign autographs and pose for pictures before the movie begins at 7:30 p.m. next Tuesday at Regal Theatres Dole Cannery 18.

For those who miss the special event, "American Teen" opens in theaters locally on Aug. 22.
Police will benefit from fun at Frog’s
Senor Frog's celebrates its first anniversary with a benefit tomorrow night for the Honolulu Police Community Foundation.
All proceeds from the night's cover charge will go to the foundation, which supports the police department and provides scholarships.
The reggae band Everyday People will perform, with cover after 9 p.m. of $5 for kamaaina and $10 general.

Community college scholarships open
Community college students may apply for scholarships through Oct. 1 through the Vocational Educational Scholarship Program.
Financial aid is available to students at community colleges in the University of Hawaii system statewide.
