» Shane Victorino (Saint Anthony) has hit in 11 of his last 12 games, going 19-for-51 (.373) with eight runs during that span. Victorino, who has been the subject of recent trade rumors, expressed his desire not be dealt before the July 31 trade deadline. "I want to stay here. I don't want to go, but I have no control. I don't want to leave the situation I'm in," Victorino said in a recent article on MLB.com.
» Tyler Yates (Kauai, Hawaii-Hilo) could be in line for save opportunities now that Pittsburgh traded closer Demaso Marte to the Yankees. Yates will likely share opportunities with lefty reliever John Grabow until starting closer Matt Capps returns from the disabled list. Neither Yates nor Grabow have registered a save this season.
» Brandon League (Saint Louis) was ejected by plate unpire Mike DiMuro after beaning Tampa Bay catcher Dioner Navarro in the eighth inning of an eventual 6-4 loss to the Rays on July 19.
» Bronson Sardinha (Kamehameha) ended his 11-game hitting streak on Friday, going 0-for-4 in a 5-1 victory over Double-A Binghamton. During the streak, the Kailua native hit .375 (15-for-40), but has only one RBI in his last 16 games after amassing 25 RBI in his first 25 games with Double-A Akron.
» Kea Kometani (Punahou) has not allowed an earned run in his last five games after allowing five in an inning of work on July 4. During the streak, Kometani struck out seven and walked none.
» Kanekoa Texeira (Kamehameha) was promoted by the Chicago White Sox organization to Double-A Birmingham on Monday. The right-handed reliever made his debut with the Barons on Thursday, pitching one and one-third scoreless innings while striking out two. Texeira had an 0.93 ERA and 20 saves with Single-A Winston-Salem before his promotion.
» Jerome Williams (Waipahu) was activated from the disabled list (shoulder tendonitis) on July 19 and pitched four scoreless innings the next day in a 7-4 loss to Single-A Stockton.
» Mark Okano (Aiea) is second in the independent Golden Baseball League with 16 home runs, trailing teammate Patrick Breen by three. Okano is also tied for fourth in the league with 62 runs.
