"ARTafterDARK" with special guest DJ Rekha

The Honolulu Academy of Arts returns with another installment of its monthly "ARTafterDARK" party on Friday.

London-born and New York-raised DJ Rekha (pictured) is this month's special guest, blending traditional South Asian bhangra music with hip-hop beats.

Doors open at 6 p.m. Friday, with zip tours of the Academy's Jhamandas Watumull Gallery of Indian Art starting at 7 p.m.

"Another Day in the H.I." CD Release Party

Join local rapper (and 2008 Na Hoku Hanohano Award nominee) I.A. at Pipeline Cafe this weekend to help celebrate the release of his second full-length album.

Also known as legendary boxer Jesus Salud's son, I.A. plans to land blows of his own alongside Hawaii-based hip-hop artists Krystilez, OSNA, J-Wiz and Island Gang. O-Shen, Fiyah Clique and the ABC Breakers will also perform. Rick Rock will host; doors open at 10 p.m.
