Kim is trying to become the seventh golfer in history to claim both the Women's Amateur and Girls Junior titles. The 16-year-old 2006 Women's Amateur winner from Pahoa recorded consecutive 1-over 72s, good for a tie for 15th in stroke play and one of 64 match-play berths.
Punahou senior-to-be Anna Jang followed up her opening-round 77 with a 74 yesterday, and advanced to match play in a playoff. Kim faces Stacy Kim of Yorba Linda, Calif., today, while Jang takes on Madison Pressel of Boca Raton, Fla.
Hawaii golfers Alina Ching and Cyd Okino failed to qualify with two-round totals of 153 and 159, respectively.
In the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship, suspended play will resume today for Honolulu's Brett Komoto and Maui's Justin Keiley.
