Low gets minutes for Mavericks

Derrick Low could dominate games at will at Iolani School, and did so for four years.

At Washington State, he was a fine player who helped lead the Cougars deep into the NCAA Tournament.

But battling for an NBA job is a whole different world for the 6-foot-2 point guard. Low finally got significant minutes in a summer league game for the Dallas Mavericks yesterday. But nothing jumped off Low's stat line except for five fouls. He hit a 3-pointer in the final minute and had no assists in 16 minutes as the Mavs fell to the Golden State Warriors' team 90-73 in the Rocky Mountain Revue.

Raindrop takes overall lead

Raindrop has taken the overall lead from Sleeping Dragon as of yesterday morning's roll call on Day 9 of the 2,070-mile Pacific Cup race from San Francisco to Kaneohe.

Raindrop is one of four yachts to have cleared the halfway mark.

Barbaloot leads the Division 2 group, while Shaman is the Division A leader, and Checkered Past owns the Division B lead. Sweet Okole currently tops Division C and Sleeping Dragon remains out in front in Division D.
