The eyes have it
The Eyes of Hawaii Camera Club is a group of photographers who meet regularly to discuss their craft.
"We run the gamut of skill levels," says club vice president Ed Yee, from "pros to a lot of my students."
Yee, who teaches photography at Kaimuki Community School, says the club was started about seven years ago by a few of his students. "The club started off with about five people, and we are up to about 72 members now," he says.
But the club is not only about photography. It is also involved in community projects.
"We photographed the Special Olympics and donated the photos for their use," he says. "We also helped out with some Boy Scout projects, both photographing as well as helping out."
Work by club members is currently on display at the Canon Gallery at Ward Plaza. The exhibit runs through July.

The Quechua, descendants of the Incas who live in the Andes, raise guinea pigs as a source of animal protein. The guinea pigs live off vegetable kitchen scraps until they are large enough to become the meal. The process makes good use of limited resources. "Quechua Kitchen" is by James B. Young.
