Nicole Fox won this year's Miss Hawaii Scholarship Pageant last night at the Neal Blaisdell Concert Hall. This year's competition was a three-night affair, with swimsuit, talent and interview competitions. The winner will represent Hawaii in the Miss America pageant in Las Vegas.

Junior paramedics demonstrated yesterday what they learned during a four-week course taught by the Emergency Medical Services Division of the Honolulu Emergency Services Department. Thirty-five students graduated from the program, which develops youth leadership and team building through first-responder skills courses. The graduation ceremony was held last night at the John A. Burns School of Medicine. Amanda Cadiz, 18, portrayed a patient with a cervical spinal injury, and stabilizing her were John Orr, 18, Ryan Wong, 15, Kylla Lau-Eglinton, 14, Jeremiah Nelson, 16, and Ian James, 15.

GJ Sakaguchi secured the leash on his surfboard yesterday in Waikiki after exiting the water following a surf session at Publics. A small south swell, building during the day yesterday, is forecast to continue through the weekend.
