Kaohu Cazinha, Ahuimanu Elementary School,
Stanford Alika Bajo, Hale Kula School, Fiction;
Patricia K. Hanohano, Kaneohe Elementary School,
Filomena Miyamoto, Keaau Elementary School,
Ivanelle Choy, Kahala Elementary School, Honorable Mention.
New officers of the Associated Students of the University of Hawaii for the 2008-2009 term are Jaime Sohn, president; Jonathan Hite, vice president; Daniel Richards, treasurer; Melissa Galarneau, secretary; and Cassandra Wagner, Bryan Kron, Michael Schuber and Kiara Sakamoto, senators-at-large.
Gilman K.M. Hu, a local architect, became president of Construction Specifications Institute, a national organization.
Former Hawaii residents Clayton Kau and Aaron Oki both received the 2008 Asian American Engineer of the Year Award, presented by the Chinese Institute of Engineers, USA.
