Wilson 4 shots back
Castle High's Dean Wilson shot a blistering 5-under 65 yesterday to move into a tie for ninth entering the final round of the AT&T National at the Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Md.
Wilson's three-day total of 6-under 204 left him in a tie with Robert Allenby, four shots off the pace of 54-hole leader Tom Pernice Jr.
Wilson began the day tied for 26th as he plays in his 20th event of the season. He has missed the cut eight times and is currently No. 98 on the FedEx Cup points list.
The 38-year-old Brigham Young alumnus managed a bogey-free round. He opened with four birdies on the front nine en route to a sizzling 31 and appeared to be headed to the top of the leaderboard. Wilson cooled off somewhat on the back side, birdieing the 13th before closing with five consecutive pars.
He will be paired with Anthony Kim and Cliff Kresge today.
Fellow local Parker McLachlin shot an even-par 70 to remain at 3 under for the tournament. The Punahou School product is tied for 21st after carding two bogeys and two birdies to drop seven spots on the leaderboard. He is No. 87 on the FedEx Cup list.
