Hall of Fame honors for Ah Yat
Former Kalani football coach Tony Ah Yat is one of eight honorees to be enshrined in the Linfield College Athletics Hall of Fame this year.
Ah Yat, a 1965 graduate of Linfield, was a four-year starter in football and twice earned NAIA District II honors. He was a three-time All-Pacific Coast all-star and received Associated Press All-America honors as a senior.
The induction ceremony will be held Saturday, Nov. 8, at the annual AT&T Wireless Hall of Fame banquet.
HWB alumni to play in Futures game
Four former Hawaii Winter Baseball players will represent the United States in the XM Satellite Radio All-Star Futures Game at Yankee Stadium on July 13 as part of the Major League Baseball All-Star game festivities.
Infielders Mat Gamel and Chris Valaika of the 2007 North Shore Honu and outfielders Dexter Fowler and Nate Schierholtz, who played on the 2006 Waikiki BeachBoys team, made the 25-man U.S. squad.
