JASMINE JOINS SOS-LV IN WAIKIKI:
Jasmine Trias celebrated onstage with Society of Seven-LV members Mike De Guzman, left, William Daquioag, Jonathan Kaina, top, John Salvatera, Richard Natto and Glenn Miyashiro after their opening-night show together Friday in the Outrigger Main Showroom. Trias joins the guys for several showcase segments -- a tribute to Natalie Cole comes early; impressions of Britney Spears and Beyonce, and numbers from "South Pacific" and "Miss Saigon" come later. Trias guests with the SOS-LV nightly except Monday through July 31. Call 923-SHOW (923-7469).
Carole Kai got some aloha from Frank B. Shaner at the SOS-LV party after the show. Shaner could have destroyed the show when Richard Natto pulled him on stage during the "SOS School of Elvis Impersonators" segment, but he played along instead. He made use of every straight line they fed him but kept the segment on track.
Showroom staffers Howard Peralta, left, and Ron Lee joined Frances Kirk in checking out the Filipino cuisine she had selected for the after-party. It's hard to believe it has been seven years since SOS-LV opened in the Main Showroom, and 39 since Kirk brought the original Society of Seven to the Outrigger.
KAHALA COMES TO ALA MOANA:
Tori Richard CEO Josh Feldman, left, Dale Hope, Ginger Leong, Mark Norfleet and store manager Krishna Chatterjee co-hosted a pau hana celebration last Thursday officially opening the Kahala store at Ala Moana Center. The party marked the rebirth of Kahala Sportswear, a brand founded in the 1930s, and Hope shared his memories of working with the company's founder.
"WITNESS" REVIEWED: Herbert Zeigler, left, Mimi Henriksen and Peter Hoffenberg moderated a screening last Thursday of "Imaginary Witness: Hollywood and the Holocaust" hosted by Ann Brandman, right, at the University of Hawaii-Manoa. The film documents Hollywood's take on Nazi anti-Semitism from the 1930s to the present. An overflow crowd stayed for an hour of post-show discussion.
