» Deadline to file is Oct. 15.
» The stimulus payment should not affect an individual's eligibility for other federal benefits.
» Individuals with at least $3,000 of qualifying income will qualify for the stimulus rebate even if they owe no tax. This income can include any combination of wages, Social Security benefits and disabled veterans benefits.

The individuals are residents who do not normally file federal tax returns, including disabled veterans and seniors living off Social Security benefits.
The federal checks are $300 for individuals and $600 for married couples.
"I encourage all seniors and veterans and others who don't normally file a tax return to file now and get your money," U.S. Sen. Daniel Akaka said. "You just need to file a simple tax return, and the IRS will send you the check. Veterans centers, senior homes, family members and support groups such as the AARP can help you file."
