Free seminars offered to Alzheimer’s caregivers

The Alzheimer's Association's Aloha Chapter has scheduled a series of free classes over the next few weeks to help people caring for someone with Alzheimer's disease or a related disorder.
After presenting information, the "What Now?" classes will allow guided group discussion. A free Caregiver's Quick Guide and Resource Manual will be provided.
Classes will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Alzheimer's Association office, Ward Warehouse, 1050 Ala Moana Blvd., D-2610. Individual sessions are by appointment only.

The classes, co-sponsored by the city-county Elderly Affairs Division, are as follows:

» July 1, "Taking Care of Yourself," how the caregiver can cope while caring for a loved one
» July 8, "Hiring and Managing In-Home Caregivers," introductions to home-care planning and management
» July 15, "When Is It Time to Move Our Loved One into a Facility?" steps to take when looking into residential facilities
» July 22, "Extended Family and Friends," facing the challenges as a family and the impact on friends and family relationships
» July 29, "Community Resources," an easy guide to community resources
