Amy Hanaiali'i Gilliom is nominated for female artist of the year for her album, "A Hawaiian Christmas." At last year's Na Hoku Hanohano Awards, she accepted the Hawaiian album of the year award while holding daughter Madelane.

Hoku Awards to air live on KFVE tonight

The 31st Annual Na Hoku Hanohano Awards -- the year's major recognition ceremony in local music -- takes place tonight, with performances planned by the Brothers Cazimero, John Cruz, Hoku Zuttermeister, the Opihi Pickers and more.

The show will air live on KFVE at 7:30 p.m. from the Hawai'i Convention Center and will be streamed live at www.k5thehometeam.com.

The dinner and awards ceremony will honor 2008 Lifetime Achievement Award winners Edna Bekeart, Jimmy Borges, the Cazimeros, the late Cyrus Green and Olomana.

Leading the field of nominees this year are Zuttermeister, whose debut album, "'Aina Kupuna," earned eight nominations, and Napua Greig, who earned seven for her debut, "Pihana."
