HOMELESS IN MOKULEIA APPEAL FOR ASSISTANCE FL MORRIS / FMORRIS@STARBULLETIN.COM
Karen Bates and Willy Kamalani, who live in a tent at Mokuleia Beach Park, are among homeless campers facing eviction on Monday when the city plans to clean the park. The homeless community, consisting of about a dozen family groups, made a plea last night for help in their relocation from the park, which they consider a clean and crime-free haven. Les Chang, director of the city Department of Parks and Recreation, said yesterday that cleaning parks is one of the administration's highest priorities, with 28 "makeovers" completed since 2006.
