A driver of a sport utility vehicle that critically injured a pedestrian on a sidewalk early Saturday near Aloha Tower turned himself in to police Saturday night.
The 25-year-old Moiliili man was arrested for investigation of failure to render aid and causing serious injury. He was later released pending investigation. The 39-year-old victim suffered head and torso injuries and was in critical condition at the Queen's Medical Center.
Police said the SUV jumped a curb in front of Aloha Tower Marketplace before hitting the man at 2:07 a.m. The SUV stopped briefly and then drove away toward Diamond Head.
In another case, police are still looking for the driver of a light-colored sport utility vehicle that fled the scene of a fatal hit-and-run case in Iwilei Wednesday night.

The victim fell into the path of another vehicle, which dragged him about 30 feet, police said. The man's identity was not released.
