The first bon dance of the Obon season, sponsored by the Iwakuni Bon Dance Club, was held Saturday at the Waipahu Plantation Village. Kazuko Ikeda, from Waipahu Hongwanji Mission, danced. In Japan the Obon season is a week or two long, but bon dances in Hawaii last all summer long. The next opportunity to participate in a bon dance will be at 7 p.m. June 21 at the Ewa Hongwanji Temple.
