Chefs and performers unite in fundraiser for cyclone victims

An evening of dining and entertainment tomorrow at Aloha Tower Marketplace will benefit victims of the Myanmar cyclone.

Participating restaurants are Chai's Island Bistro, Compadres, Hee Hing, Hong Kong Harbor View, Hukilau, Morton's Steakhouse, Roy's and Sam Choy's. The Myanmar Association of Hawaii will provide Burmese cuisine.

Entertainment will include Halau I Ka Wekiu, which includes a number of dancers of Burmese heritage, and cultural performances representing art forms of China, the Philippines, Japan, Tonga, Myanmar , India, Korea, Nepal, Tahiti, Thailand and Vietnam. Comedian Augie T emcees.

All the performers, chefs and organizers are volunteering their efforts. The Myanmar Cyclone Relief Fundraiser runs from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Tickets are $50, $100 for reserved seating. Tables for 10 are $3,000 and $5,000. Call 851-7010 or e-mail myaing999@gmail.com.
