Malosi Te’o switches to BYU
From staff and wire reports
Kahuku graduate Malosi Te'o is headed to Provo, Utah, to play football.
Te'o's father, Ephraim, says his son will attend Brigham Young University when he returns from a church mission in New York City. Te'o signed a letter of intent to play with UNLV as a senior in 2006, but left on the mission before enrolling there.
BYU had to wait until the player had been on his mission for a year before speaking with Te'o.
The 5-foot-9, 185-pound Red Raider running back finished third in the Star-Bulletin's 2006 Offensive Player of the Year balloting behind Damien's Kealoha Pilares and Iolani's Kiran Kepo'o.
Te'o's cousin, highly recruited Punahou junior linebacker Manti Te'o, has said he doesn't plan to announce his college destination until next year's National Letter of Intent Day.
