Col. Jeffrey Jarkowsky was honored yesterday with a "Flying V" ceremony at Fort Shafter upon his departure from U.S. Army Pacific and reassignment to Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. The Flying V ceremony is an Army tradition to bid farewell to or welcome senior Army officials when they depart or assume duties at an Army command. Jarkowsky has served at U.S. Army Pacific since August 2006, first as deputy chief of staff for operations, plans and training, and most recently as chief of staff. Jarkowsky saluted in the direction of Lt. Gen. Benjamin Mixon, commanding general of U.S Army Pacific, and incoming Chief of Staff Col. A. Thomas Ball Jr. during the ceremony.
