Give DVDs, CDs to troops

KILAUEA, Kauai » Three Kauai men have come up with a way to keep U.S. troops occupied in their free time while overseas.

Neal Mathur, Noah Neumann and Doug Kimmerle, creators of the Web site Resource4Hawaii, are asking for people to donate their new or used CDs and DVDs to send abroad to the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.

"We dreamed it up over Memorial Day weekend," Neumann said yesterday. It is "a great way to show our support."

According to Neumann, the idea is not new -- a Tennessee teen with a father in Iraq originally came up with the idea a number of years ago.

But still, many people across the state have CDs or DVDs that they rarely use.

"Usually, they're just stashed at home," he added.

Neumann, Mathur and Kimmerle will take all the discs sent to their Kilauea post office box, pack them up and send them out via the Defense Department's "Support our Troops" program, which sends items to Iraq and Afghanistan.

"We're just giving back," Neumann said.

To donate, send your CDs and DVDs to P.O. Box 699, Kilauea, HI 96754; or go the Resource4Hawaii Web site at www.resource4hawaii.com.
