Exhibition puts human body on display from the inside out
Does the thought of dead bodies, preserved and sawed into pieces, sound like a compelling visual spectacle to you? It has for the 8 million-plus visitors to "Bodies ... The Exhibition," a touring display of whole and partial human body specimens.
"Bodies" comes to an exhibition space in Ala Moana Center near Nordstrom, opening June 14. Tickets are on sale for $27, $25 seniors, $18.75 children.
The pieces in the exhibit have been preserved through a technique called polymer preservation, resulting in rubberized specimens that showcase the body's bones, muscles, nerves, blood vessels and organs.
The result is a rare view of the internal workings of the human body, including several whole-body specimens. Healthy organs can be compared with diseased ones.
The exhibit will run through Jan. 18. For tickets visit the Web site www.BodiesTickets.com. -- Star-Bulletin staff
