Summer fun
The monthlong 50th State Fair starts up again this week at Aloha Stadium's lower Halawa parking lot.
Featured entertainment this weekend includes music by Rebel Souljahz and Kawa'o (7:30 and 9:30 p.m. Friday), Willie K's acoustic guitar trio Lima Wela (7:30 p.m. Saturday) and Fiji (7:30 p.m. Sunday).
Also included in the mix are Hedrick's Racing Pigs, Cirque Equinox, a backyard circus and family puppet parade, an ongoing keiki stars competition on Sundays, and, from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday and Monday, a special appearance by Iron Man.
Upcoming special concert appearances in June include Soulja Boy (June 6 and 7), teen singer Jordan Lynne Pruitt (June 13 and 14), "Hannah Montana's" Mitchel Musso (June 20 and 21) and MTV's "America's Best Dance Crew" finalist Kaba Modern (June 22).

The fun never ends at the 50th State Fair.

Hours for the fair are 6 p.m. Fridays and June 5; and noon Monday, Saturdays and Sundays. General admission is $3 from noon to 6 p.m., $5 from 6 p.m. onward and free to children 40 inches and shorter.
Monday will be Military Appreciation Day, with free admission for active duty and retired Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Coast Guard and National Guard personnel and their dependents (must have valid military ID).
Wristband sales for $23 are available online at www.ekfernandez.com or at all Ticketmaster outlets including Times Supermarkets.
The wristband is good for unlimited rides for Memorial Day; noon to 6 p.m. Saturdays; noon to closing Sundays (except this Sunday); and 6 p.m. to closing June 5.
