Attend meeting for chance at community garden plot
Question:
I read about folks having plots in community gardens. I looked on the city Web site but couldn't find any references. How can I find out where the gardens are and who to contact to use a plot?
Answer: The Community Gardens are part of the Department of Parks and Recreation.
There are 10 gardens, occupying city property, and you basically just have to show up at the location of choice during its regular monthly meeting and fill out an application form.
The average waiting time is less than two months, but you may luck out and be given a plot on the spot. You have to be present at a meeting to obtain a plot.
Each garden sets its own rules, requirements and fees.
