Students receive chamber scholarships

The Filipino Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii Foundation awarded its 2008 scholarships to the following students from funds raised at its 14th Annual Scholarship Golf Tournament with title sponsor AIG Hawaii: $4,500 to Tiana Fernandez of King Kekaulike High School on Maui; and $3,500 to Tanya Alconcel, Kaimuki High School, Ayla R. Bicoy, Molokai High School; Aaron Bright, Moanalua High School; Christianne Nicetas Liongson, Maryknoll School; and Katherine Philippe Medler, Konawaena High School.

Kamehameha Schools students from the Kapalama and Maui campuses collected three awards at the 5th annual Olelo Community Television's Youth Xchange video competition. Maui teacher Robert Siarot and students took first place in the middle school music video division; and teacher Jay Paa and students won first place in the high school mini-documentary division. Kapalama's Ryan Lam and Josh Pelekai won first place in the news division.

Other participants included Bradley Kiaha, Stacey Johnston, Sage Decosta, Amanda Lee, Christen Chin, Greg Juan and Ryder Pahukoa; and teachers Dale Gushiken-Nip, Lory Aiwohi and Patricia Gillespie.
