The Kamehameha Warriors were up to the task. Amber Waracka fired a five-hit, 10-inning shutout and freshman Leiana Naki-Kaonohi scored the game's only run on an error as Kamehameha edged Moanalua 1-0 last night in the quarterfinals of the DataHouse/HHSAA State Softball Championships at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.
Waracka struck out 17 and walked just one in her finest performance of the season. Kamehameha (27-1) will meet Campbell in a semifinal battle tonight at 7.
Robinson went the distance, allowing just four hits and the one unearned run. She fanned 15 without a walk for Moanalua (22-8), the third-place team from the Oahu Interscholastic Association.
Kamehameha opened the top of the 10th frame with a single by Ashley Morisako, who raced to second on an overthrow back to the infield. Naki-Kaonohi, who had been tagged off second base earlier in the game, re-entered as a courtesy runner. Dara Pagaduan's fly ball to right was the second out, but allowed Naki-Kaonohi to advanced to third.
Melissa Awa then hit a grounder in the hole at second, where second baseman Michelle Acosta hustled, but misplayed the bounce, and Naki-Kaonohi scored.
Waracka then retired Moanalua in order, striking out Mary Ann Giles to end the contest.
It was a true pitchers' duel between UH-Hilo-bound Waracka and UH-Manoa-bound Robinson, but both squads had opportunities.
In the second inning, Na Menehune had runners at first and second after Dawn Dela Cruz and Lauren Oumaye singled, but Waracka struck out Kylee Oshiro and Stephanie Putnam grounded out to end the threat.
In the third, Michelle Acosta walked and Robinson singled to left, but again, Waracka escaped after Britni Ronolo popped out.
Kamehameha threatened in the fourth when Pomaikai Kalakau singled and Marche Llanos' hard grounder to second bounced off Michelle Acosta, but Acosta recovered and threw out courtesy runner Leiana Naki-Kaonohi, who overran second base.
The Warriors had another shot in the eighth, when Dara Pagaduan singled and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt. Robinson, however, struck out pinch hitter Briana Sauer and Elizabeth Koki to end the inning. In the ninth, Robinson led off with a ground ball up the middle for a single and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Ronolo. Waracka answered with strikeouts of Dawn Dela Cruz and Oumaye to douse the fire.

Mililani 20, Maryknoll 1
The Oahu Interscholastic Association champion Trojans piled up 22 base hits, had no errors and were nearly flawless in a rout of the Spartans.
A subdued crowd of about 300 at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium witnessed the prowess of Mililani ace Makani Duhaylonsod and shortstop Courtney Senas. Duhaylonsod allowed just one hit over three innings before yielding to Kylee Rodrigues with a 17-0 lead.
Senas, meanwhile, hit a pair of three-run homers and a two-run double, and finished 4-for-4 with eight RBIs.

Campbell 4, Baldwin 1
Breanne Patton fired a four-hitter and Loreen Egdamin batted 3-for-3 as the Sabers rode a four-run third inning to a victory over the Maui Interscholastic League champions. Patton, a senior, whiffed six Bears and walked only one.
The Bears, a team with no seniors and just two juniors, reached Patton for a run in the third, but were otherwise tamed.

Waiakea 7, Sacred Hearts 2
Kirsty Imai scattered seven safeties and the fourth-seeded Warriors unleashed 13 hits against the Lancers.
Imai relied on her defense after struggling early.
"I had a hard time getting the first strike in with my fastball," she said. "I went off-speed, more consistent. I let 'em hit that and let my defense work."
Imai was anxious to face Mililani, the top seed, in today's semifinal round.
"They beat us last year," she said of the '07 state tourney.
