The buyer of Aloha Airlines' cargo unit got its federal operating certificate yesterday, celebrating the $10.5 million deal with a Hawaiian blessing. Saltchuk Resources' purchase saved 370 jobs and an operation that handles most of the state's air cargo. Aeko Kulo Inc. Chief Operating Officer Mike Coffman, middle, and Saltchuk Resources Inc. Chairman Mark Tabbutt untied a maile lei yesterday during the blessing by Kahu Kordell Kekoa.

The monk seal pup rescued by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration from an undisclosed beach on Kauai is feeding well. He was physically active yesterday as he swam in his pool. He has grown to 35 pounds.
