Two winners will be selected, one in a video category and the other in an essay category. Submit either a one-minute video or a written/photo essay describing why you deserve to win. Deadline for entries is July 1.
For more contest information, visit www.myuglydoor.com. Winners will be announced in the fall by Tom Kraeutler of "The Money Pit" radio show.
Workshop offers Mother's Day gift
The Board of Water Supply is hosting a Tillandsia Mother's Day workshop at Halawa Xeriscape Garden from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. tomorrow, where participants can craft a one-of-a-kind gift for Mom.
Advanced registration is required by e-mail at tous@hbws.org or by calling 748-5363.
Activity fee is $15, which includes one tillandsia plant and one decorative item per person. (A discounted rate is offered to members of the Friends of Halawa Xeriscape Garden.)
Participants will need to share glue guns and scissors, so those who have these supplies on hand are encouraged to bring their own. Additional materials may be available for cash purchase, paid directly to the instructor.
The Xeriscape Garden is located at 99-1268 Iwaena St. at Halawa Valley's Central Park Industrial Area.
