Everybody took land from someone else
I wonder why the "native Hawaiians" who illegally took control of Iolani Palace were not arrested? Seems like anyone else would have been. I wonder if these natives are given back "their" land, will they give it to the people they stole it from? On the mainland, the illegals from Mexico want "their" land back, and I am assuming that they are going to give it back to the Indians, whom they stole it from and in return, the Indians will give it back to the people they stole it from! How about we all just get along?

Big business is behind attack on Obama
All the media are keeping on the story of the Rev. Jeremiah Wright when the main issues are more important. Seems like big business has bought all the media to bring down Sen. Barack Obama. Money seems to be playing a big part in getting Sen. Hillary Clinton elected. Makes you wonder if these media are honest and are not bought. Perhaps Bill Clinton is behind this. The main issues are the economy, Iraq war, immigration and not what Wright said. Both CNN and Fox News are less and less trustworthy. I thought they were neutral and not open to corruption. Makes you wonder how truthful and honest they are.

Kauai needs ferry cargo service -- now!
I read on Wednesday that Tuesday's shipment of Love's Bakery baked goods "is still sitting in Los Angeles" because the freight forwarder used United, which stopped flying cargo to Lihue Airport. Seems United used Aloha Airlines' cargo handling, which is no longer available.
On a positive note, Kauai is the only neighbor island to have had its mail shipped from Honolulu by someone other than Aloha Airlines, so we can eat junk mail instead of bread.
Seriously, it is time for our county council to immediately pass a resolution welcoming the restart of Superferry service to Kauai as soon as possible. Our small growers need it. Our people need it.

Ferry protesters have really quieted down
Hark! Is that the sound of silence I hear coming from those previously vociferous "protect-MY-island-from-Oahuans-and-whatevahs" folks on Kauai, Maui and Hawaii now that the Superferry is going to bring them some of their amenities and needed supplies? So much for altruism!

Don't let auto lobby derail another train
It is beyond belief that some are acting outraged at the "radical idea" of rail here. Early in the last century we had trains, streetcars and ferries running all over the San Francisco Bay area and down to San Jose. It was simple and cheap to get around.
After the war, General Motors, et al, changed all that with their scheme to sell buses everywhere. The same happened in Los Angeles, which had Red Trains running far and wide and were destroyed. Look at L.A. now.
San Diego was smart enough to build a beautiful rail system, which runs from suburbs to the north to the Mexican border. We must not listen to the naysayers here who would cripple us. In the past we had a train that ran out to Haleiwa, but we let the auto industry kill that, too.
