OHA grants $5,000 to agricultural program

The Agricultural Leadership Foundation of Hawaii received $5,000 from the Office of Hawaii Affairs' Community-Based Economic Development program. The funds will be used to support the attendance of native Hawaiians in the Agricultural Leadership program, which assists businesses and organizations in the industry.

Virginia Pressler, M.D., executive vice president of Strategic Business Development of Hawaii Pacific Health, received the Partnership for Action Grassroots Champion Award for generating community support for hospital and health care issues. The American Hospital Association, in partnership with the Healthcare Association of Hawaii, presented her the award.

Law professor Jill Ramsfield of the University of Hawaii-Manoa received the Board of Regents' Excellence in Teaching Award. It is the highest award given for the extraordinary level of subject mastery and scholarship, and teaching effectiveness and creativity. This is the fifth consecutive year that a professor of the UH William S. Richardson School of Law has been selected for the award.

She teaches continuing legal education courses nationally and internationally.
