A white plume continued to issue from the vent in Halemaumau Crater in Kilauea on the Big Island yesterday, blown to the southwest by strengthening tradewinds. This photo taken around 1 a.m. Sunday show the sky lightening before the moon rises. Sulfur dioxide emissions remained high, about seven to eight times the normal background rate.
