Career day event gets $25,000 OHA grant
The
Office of Hawaiian Affairs awarded $25,000 to
Hawaii Construction Career Days, a nonprofit corporation, for its career day event for high school students in October at Honolulu Community College. The activities are part of a effort to increase the skilled labor pool for construction projects.
The
Carl and Hildgund Bucky Foundation donated $5,000 to the
Alzheimer's Society, $2,500 to
Habilitat Services and $2,500 to the
Make a Wish Foundation.
Kiewit Building Group Inc. donated $10,000 to the
Nanakuli Housing Corp. to purchase materials for a warehouse and training facility in Kalaeloa. NHC provides technical assistance and low-interest home-repair loans to Waianae Coast families.
Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts has awarded
Rachel Borg, a 2004 graduate of Punahou School, the Margaret Davis Stitt Prize for excellence in dramatic arts by a graduating senior. Borg is a set and costume designer.
