Boaters can register online

Boat owners and other vessel owners in Hawaii can now go online to renew their registration, purchase ramp decals and order replacement registration cards, according to a state news release.

Visit www.vessel.ehawaii. gov/vessel for the online system.

Transfers of vessel ownership and first-time registration must still be done at Division of Boating and Ocean Recreation offices so key documents can be inspected and copied for filings.

In addition to saving time, the online system will also give law enforcement agencies quick access to information needed to protect near-shore waters, the release said.

Unless documented with the Coast Guard, all motorized vessels need to be registered with the state of Hawaii to operate in state waters.
