Yuh pushes Pearl City into final
He says he was just a wee bit off, but Corey Yuh can be forgiven for a little imperfection.
The Pearl City southpaw struck out eight in a four-hitter as the Chargers blanked Castle 7-0 last night in the semifinals of the Oahu Interscholastic Association Red playoffs.

"At the beginning, I was off a little bit with my location and speed," the 6-foot-2 senior said. "I didn't have my 'A' game."
Still, Yuh threw just 76 pitches and didn't walk a batter, and Pearl City's defense was nearly flawless in a game that had the makings of a pitchers' duel for four innings.
"The kids did good. Corey pitched good. He didn't get nervous," first-year head coach Gary Nakamoto said of the televised game. "Carlton (Tanabe) helped him out a lot."
Tanabe, the junior catcher, called on all of Yuh's weapons: fastball, changeup, curve and slider. "I give him credit. He doesn't shake me off," Tanabe said. "He was really bringing it, and he has that tail (on the fastball)."
Bryson Namba gave the Chargers a big boost with a three-run homer in the fifth inning.
"He made a mistake and threw it over the middle," Namba said of Castle hurler Bryan Raines. "I was looking fastball all the way. I caught that one real clean, but I didn't think it was going over."
Pearl City (12-2) will meet Kailua in a battle between the top seeds from the West and East tomorrow night for the OIA crown. The Chargers topped the Surfriders in last year's league final.
"Hopefully, our kids will be ready," Nakamoto said. "To be there again, I'm happy for the kids."
Now all that stands between Pearl City and another title is Kailua and its lethal hitting attack.
"Because they lost to us last year, they want to come back," Nakamoto said.
Castle (10-5) will meet Aiea for third place. Both teams will participate in the state tournament May 7-10.
