Gift certificates offer designer consultation
Here's a unique gift idea: a two-hour consultation with an interior designer. Perhaps you'd like to give one to yourself.
In preparation for Designer Month, May 15 to June 15, the Hawaii chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers is selling gift certificates for $150 each.
Throughout Designer Month the gift certificates may be exchanged for a two-hour consultation with an interior designer, appointed to meet with you at your home, project site or the designer's office.
E-mail liz@asidhawaii.net or fax 356-0126.
Museum sponsors 'College Day'
Teachers and students can enjoy an educational day at the Contemporary Museum's Makiki Heights site Saturday, where the museum will feature gallery and curator talks and access to its Cades Library.
"College Day," running 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., features a 10:30 gallery discussion on recycled materials in contemporary art by University of Hawaii art professor Jaimey Hamilton. At 11:45, college students can garner practical advice from exhibition curator Inger Tully, who will explain the ins and outs of submitting art portfolios to museums and galleries. Call 237-5217 for reservations to both talks.
The Cades Library, among Hawaii's most comprehensive resources on contemporary art and artists, will be open 11:30 to 4. The library houses more than 1,800 books, 2,300 exhibition catalogs and artists' biographies. Call 526-1322, ext. 22.
The museum is at 2411 Makiki Heights Drive.
