Breast cancer survivors' work recognized
Lillian Kehau Matsumoto and
Mary Olsen Kelly of Honolulu, both breast cancer survivors, were named 2008 Yoplait Champions in recognition of their work to raise breast cancer awareness.
Yoplait Champions "honors ordinary people doing extraordinary things in the fight against breast cancer."
Each woman will receive $1,000 for a breast cancer charity of her choice.
Hawaii Student Television was recognized at the 2008 Pele Awards Celebration in a special Exhibition Category. Its work "Hulihee Palace," won as best television video. Also recognized were HSTV's public service announcement on the therapeutic foster parent, created for Child & Family Service, and an anti-drug video for the Hawaii Foster Youth Coalition.
Winners included Malia Verdadero, Blade Rodgers, Sabrina Tincher, Angelica Perreira, Ricky Brown Jr., Alexander Maron, Camron Buckley, Rodrigo Bucsit, Wes Aviland, Ryan Santos, Blake Lanoza, Maile Steele, Duane Kiyota, Leysilie Willams, Ben Giese, Andrew Magpoc, Alvin Franco, Raymond Brasher and Debbie Nakanelua-Richards.
