Female vets can get sex trauma help
Question: Where can I get military sexual trauma treatment?
Answer: Contact the Department of Veterans Affairs Pacific Islands Health Care System at 433-0600 for additional information or the Honolulu Vet Center located at 1680 Kapiolani Blvd., Suite F-3. The phone number is 973-8387. The Women's Trauma Recovery Program, located at the VA Palo Alto Health Care System, is a 60-day residential post-traumatic stress disorder and military sexual trauma treatment program for women veterans. Additional information about this program can be found at www.womenvetsptsd.va.gov.
Q: How are military disability ratings different from VA disability ratings?
A: Although both systems use the VA schedule for rating disabilities, they have considerable differences: The military services rate only those impairments determined to preclude the member from performing his or her duties, known as "unfitting disabilities." The VA rates all service-connected impairments meeting the rating criteria of the VA schedule.
Military disability compensation is contingent upon years of service, rank and applicable retired pay base. VA compensation is a fixed amount for the given percentage award. For additional information on disability compensation contact the VA Honolulu Regional Office, (800) 827-1000.
